2 May: Fiera Carolingia (Asti)
Festival which dates back to the XIV century. Plenty of stalls along the streets of the town welcome visitors from every part of Italy.


26-27 May: Cantine Aperte
This is the most important event of the year, involving over 800 wine cellars which open to the 1 million visitors establishing in this way an immediate and direct contact with all wine tourists and lovers.


16-17 June: The Siege of Canelli
The historical reconstruction of the “Siege of Canelli – year 1613” celebrates the victory of the people of Canelli and a small regiment of soldiers of Savoy against the Army of Monferrato led by the Duke of Mantua. About three thousand people in costumes give life to a page of history and for two days about 20 inns and taverns, accurately fit in the style of the seventeenth century, offer menus exactly repeating the recipes of that century. Meanwhile, duels with cold steel, battles with ancient cannons, and cavalry charges are brought into life again in an enthralling atmosphere.


8-16 September: Douja d'Or (Asti)
Exhibition of the finest wines with national oenological competitions, wine-tasting and enogastronomic events.


9 September: Festival delle Sagre (Asti)
The biggest “open-air” restaurant of Italy. Food festival with distribution of typical dishes and wines. Parade along the streets of the city representing scenes of old country life.


16 September: Palio of Asti
2:00 p.m. traditional parade with medieval costumes

4:00 p.m. horse race


6 October - 18 November: International White Truffle Fair of Alba
The fair that celebrates the white truffle of Alba, the best and most expensive truffle in the world. For the event, the streets of Alba fill up with booths, and the central courtyard becomes a truffle market where truffle vendors sell their gems.


25-29 October: Salone del Gusto (Turin)
Salone del Gusto is the key event for the Slow Food movement, a ‘non-profit' organization founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and the disappearance of local food traditions. Salone del Gusto brings together artisan producers from all over the world to showcase traditional, regional and authentic foodstuffs. The show is a cultural and educational event as well as an immense marketplace with ‘food lanes’ dedicated to products such as cheese, cured meats and olives. Italian produce predominates and there is an extensive programme of 'taste workshops' and seminars.
